With WWE 2K26’s showcase mode focusing on cover star CM Punk’s career through a mix of defining moments, what if moments and what if matches - what would it look like if “your favourite tag team’s tag team” and close friends, The Motor City Machine Guns had their very own Showcase mode within WWE 2K26!

Thanks to 2K & WWE Games, we asked what a potential Machine Guns Showcase would look like, blending career highlights with fantasy dream matches Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin didn’t hesitate to dive straight into their deep tag team history.

“If we were doing career highlights, one that would be very playable in a WWE game would probably be against Beer Money.”

Which would include the likes of James Storm & Bobby Roode, now known as Robert Roode within WWE who had a physical tenure throughout NXT, Raw & Smackdown in which he know works behind the scenes as a producer.

Another must have for the Machine Guns is there matches with Devon & Bubba Ray of The Dudley Boys within TNA.
"Oh, and you’d have to throw 3D in there,” they added.

When it came to dream matches, the Machine Guns leaned heavily into the legacy of tag team wrestling across generations from the past and present.

“All the good WWE tag teams throughout the years,” they said. “Demolition, Legion of Doom, The Rockers, The Hart Foundation… all those teams.”

They also brought up The Brain Busters, rounding out a list that spans some of the most influential duos in wrestling history.

The idea of stepping into the ring with some of those legendary teams clearly still resonates with them, even years into their careers. But there was one name in particular that sparked a more personal reaction, The Legion of Doom.

“I don’t want to wrestle the Legion of Doom,” Alex Shelly joked, before Chris Sabin jumping in that he has in the past.

That led to a brief reflection on Sabin’s early career encounter outside WWE, when the opportunity to share the ring with legends became a reality much earlier than expected.

“Yeah, me and Amazing Red had three matches,” they recalled. “I was like 20, 21, 22. I was young. Yeah.”

Motor City Machine Guns Reveal Dream WWE 2K Showcase Matches

With Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin only recently joining WWE in late 2024, they still have plenty of time to create must-see moments in the company. And with WWE’s recent partnership with TNA, it also opens the door for the possibility that The Motor City Machine Guns’ greatest hits from across their career could one day be featured in a WWE 2K game.
